Second Saturday Lecture Series: Charles Thomson and the Continental Congress

Presented by York County History Center at York County Historical Society Museum

Bruce Gill, the Executive Director of Harriton House, will present a PowerPoint lecture on Charles Thomson, an Irish-born patriot leader during the American Revolution and Secretary of the Continental Congress. Thomson’s role with the Continental Congress as well as his restored home outside of Philadelphia, PA will be highlighted by Gill.

Located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, Harriton House is the historic 18th century residence where Thomson lived. Gill opened the museum to the public in 1976 for the Nation’s  Bicentennial.  During Gill’s time at Harriton House, the museum has grown to include not only the 6-room historic house museum but also a livestock stable, an education and administrative center, and a blacksmith shop.
