September 9 Second Saturday Lecture: Origins of the Underground Railroad

Presented by York County History Center at York County Historical Society Museum

Tim Niesen of the African American Historical Society of South Central Pennsylvania will discuss the origins of the term the Underground Railroad and that relationship to York, and York County. Niesen will also highlight some of the early regional episodes involving fugitive slave catchers and freedom seekers and the Underground Railroad network links between York and Lancaster Counties.
