Our Stories Our Artists temporary exhibit features art pieces from the York County History Center’s collection.
The York County History Center in partnership with Creative York will showcase York’s artistic heritage and showcase the power of art to inspire and “tell” stories. Featuring local York County artists experience the past visually and join us for related programs. This project is supported by the Cultural Alliance of York County, and CreativeYork.
York County has produced many artists from the internationally famous to the lesser known “local” artists. Their works and personal connections to place provide a powerful window into York County’s past and present. At times, the artists themselves, as much as their finished pieces, have their own unique story. Connecting the art, the artist, and the broader cultural and historical context of the time period provides a rich, layered understanding of York County’s history.
Our Artists Our Stories features art pieces from the York County History Center’s collection either not previously or recently exhibited. The exhibit features works from various periods and genres, and includes formally trained to self-taught artists.
