York Daily Record editors Jim McClure and Scott Blanchard will offer a free presentation for readers about the challenges of covering big stories such as school attacks, the York race riot investigation and the death of Darisabel Baez. These kinds of stories call on journalists to report with a sense of community, demand ethical decision-making, and reveal that covering the story can affect the journalist, too.

McClure is executive editor of YDR and a local historian who blogs regularly about history. Blanchard oversees YDR’s investigative reporting and studied trauma journalism through a fellowship at Columbia University in New York.
