About the exhibit:
Judeth Pekala Hawkins uses collections of objects from nature and things meant to be discarded to create prints and three-dimensional work.
Artist Statement (excerpt): “Although Oil paint is my favorite medium, I love to explore drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. The project space at Creative York is just the right place to reveal these experiments. It is objects of nature and objects we toss out that provide me with materials for three dimensional work. The boxes of collected items that fill the corners of my studio are dumped out from time to time and contents recombined, displayed, or altered. Long have I loved relief printing, and the process of monotype has given me the freedom to alter and embellish. Tools, transformed with the careless patina of long use, have become objects of art to me, infused with the energy of the work we have done together.”
Also opening the same night is TRANSITIONS: ARTWORK BY TINA BERRIER, ADRIENNE BRENNER, MARION STEPHENSON in the Kerlin Gallery at Creative York.
Both exhibits will be on display from September 28 – November 18, 2017.
