The York College Division of Music will present a PRISM concert on Saturday, October 7 at 4:00 p.m. in the Waldner Performing Arts Center. The event will feature a collage of performers including solo presentations from YCP faculty members Alicia Kosack (flute), Kenneth Osowski (piano), and Matthew Inkster (trumpet), as well as student ensemble performances from the YCP Wind Symphony, Chorale, Groove Ensemble, and Rock Band.
The music on the concert will feature almost all 20th century composers, beginning with an improvisatory symphonic work by Mason Bates entitled “Mother Ship” performed by the YCP Wind Symphony. Under the direction of Grace Muzzo, The YCP Chorale will offer sentimental tunes, “You Make Me Feel So Young” by Gordon & Myrow, and “Wanting Memories” by Ysaye Barnwell. Later on the program, the YCP Groove ensemble will perform an engaging original work by YCP faculty member Jeff Stabley entitled “Outside the Box”, and the YCP Rock Band will round out the concert with familiar songs.
All musical numbers will be performed in quick succession, giving a kaleidoscope effect with a variety of musical styles and performance mediums. The PRISM concert will last about an hour and will be performed without intermission. Family friendly, this event is free and open to the public and has a little something for everyone.
