Flutist Alicia Kosack and pianist Kenneth Osowski will perform a concert of Flute Soundscapes on Friday, October 27th at 7:30 p.m. in DeMeester Recital Hall. The program features music of 20th century American and British composers, whose writing is idiomatic to the flute. Several musical selections showcase technical displays of collaboration between the two instruments, as in the Duo for Flute and Piano by Aaron Copland. Others offer atmospheric and elegant writing in a contemporary vein, such as Ian Clarke’s Spiral Lament. The full program includes additional pieces by Anne Boyd, Ernest Bloch, Katherine Hoover, Arthur Foote, and Eldin Burton.
An active soloist and chamber musician, Alicia Kosack holds her doctorate from the University of Maryland. She performs regularly with the Fortunata Trio as well as regional orchestras, and is the Manager of the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras. Kenneth Osowski holds his DMA from the Peabody Conservatory, and has collaborated with the Jupiter and Lydian String Quartets, Mobius Percussion, and the Mark Morris Dance Group. He maintains an active career as a performer, educator, and administrator. Both musicians are on faculty in the Division of Music at York College.
