Taste Test Restaurant Incubator is hosting a short term pop up, Sinfully Tasteful Kitchen, with chef Vendettia Banks Oct. 26-28 & Nov. 3-5.
Taste Test is a restaurant series in which aspiring restaurateurs audition their concepts to the community for a chance at a long term pop up, which lasts 3 months, in the Taste Test Restaurant & Bar. Through a partnership between the York College hospitality management program and Yorit, the community will have the opportunity to decide which concept they would like to see as a permanent restaurant in Downtown York. Each concept will end with an opportunity for locals to crowdfund for part ownership in each concept.
Born, raised, and still living in York, PA, Vendettia Banks is 48 years young and wants to bring her rendition of soul food to her community through Sinfully Tasteful Kitchen. Banks grew up with a very large southern family and continued that trend with her own family, having 5 children and 13 grandchildren, so cooking is a must. Being able to create new food through cooking and baking is exactly what Banks loves doing. She was able to watch and help her grandmother and mother in the kitchen when she was growing up, which is how most of her recipes came to be today.
“I always wanted a soulfood restaurant and my grandmother told me to always shoot for the stars, so that’s what I am doing,” says Banks.
The York community is invited to attend these concept auditions and answer a series of questions about their experience. This will help the Taste Test team make a final determination for which restaurant concept will next occupy their adjoining 105 South Duke St. space for a long term pop up. No tickets are required to attend this event.
Chef Vendettia Banks will be serving up foods like fried BBQ chicken, collard greens, and buttermilk garli
