Renowned concert violinist Odin Rathnam will perform at the Unitarian/Universalist Congregation of York, 925 S. George St., York, PA on Sunday, January 21 at 3:00 PM (Snow date: Jan. 28 at 3:00 PM). It is the second concert in a series of three concerts at the church that will feature the complete solo violin sonatas and partitas by J.S. Bach, as well as other works. The Jan. 21 concert will open with Bach’s A Minor solo sonata, followed by Ysaye’s passionate Sonata No. 3, “Ballade”. The program will conclude with Bach’s D Minor Partita, the last movement of which is the famous “Chaconne”. The third concert in the series will be Apr. 29 at 3 PM. Odin Rathnam gave his first recital at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York at age 15. He gave his Lincoln Center debut in 1993. He has appeared as soloist in festivals in Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Aspen, Colorado, and Caramoor, NY. He has also soloed with the Baltimore Symphony, the Phillipine Philharmonic, the Columbian National Symphony, and the Philadelphia Virtuosi. He recently performed with the Hershey Symphony at Alice Tully Hall in NYC. He is a former concertmaster of the Harrisburg Symphony. In 1995 he founded the critically acclaimed chamber music ensemble, “Concertante”. Mr. Rathnam will have CDs available at his UUCY performances
