Writer's Eye Awards Ceremony at Creative York

We hope you will join us on Saturday, March 9 at 6pm at Creative York for the annual Writer’s Eye Competition Awards Ceremony! The winners of the competition will be announced at the ceremony by Poet Laureate of York, Vito Grippi, who also served as the juror for the competition. The writers will have a chance to read their winning pieces, and light refreshments will be provided. Plus see our current exhibit Pieces of Us, and group exhibit featuring artworks by first-generation immigrants to the US. Free and open to the public.

Come hear them read their winning pieces!

Participants are invited to write a poem or short story in response to artworks in the main gallery’s featured fall exhibits, in this case “Transitions,’ an exhibit featuring the work of Tina Berrier, Adrienne Brenner, and Marion K Stephenson, and “Off-Canvas Experiments” by Judeth Pekala Hawkins.

The annual Writer’s Eye Competition is open to students grades 4 through 12, college students, and adults. First, second, and third-place ribbons are awarded in each of four age categories, and the winning works are published in the annual Writer’s Eye booklet. The booklet will be available for purchase for $5 at the event.

About the Juror: Vito Grippi is a creative writing and literature instructor at York College of Pennsylvania and co-founder of Story Supply Co., a brand devoted to helping others share their stories. He has worked as a literary magazine editor and freelance writer and has taught youth writing workshops throughout York County. Vito writes poetry, fiction, and personal essays and especially enjoys exploring how the lines between those forms blur. He currently serves as Poet Laureate of York.
