The Assassination & Funeral of Abraham Lincoln

The Assassination & Funeral of Abraham Lincoln

Presented by York County History Center at York County Historical Society Museum

Ernie Heffner, President of Heffner Funeral Chapels & Crematory, will discuss the background of the Lincoln assassination, and the following funeral procession that included 11 ceremonies in 20 days that followed. York served as a stop on the over 1,600 mile procession that ended in Springfield, Illinois.  Heffner will discuss what happened between 1865 and 1901, that caused Lincoln’s remains to be moved 17 times and his coffin was opened another 5 times. Heffner is a second generation licensed funeral director and a nationally recognized speaker within the end-of-life services profession.
