The York County Writers’ Round Table networks writers and researchers of York County and regional history. The group meets on the first Thursday of every quarter at 7:00 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum, Library & Archives a 250 E. Market St.  This event is free and open to the public.

On September 6, Writers’ Roundtable will feature Bart Stump who will speak on the Susquehanna petroglyphs. The Susquehanna petroglyphs are ancient rock carvings that date back 1,000 years. Carved by the Algonquian Indians who lived in the area, the carvings depict animal tracks, animal and human figures, mystical thunderbirds, and constellations. But what do they mean? Do they have religious significance? Are they art? A map? A calendar? A teaching tool? Or, are they a combination of all these theories? Bart Stump, Dallastown Middle School teacher, has written widely on the petroglyphs and other historical topics.
