The Center for Community Engagement promotes York College of Pennsylvania’s positive relationship with the local community and is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in York.

The York College Center for Community Engagement recognizes the tireless efforts of the citizens in our community on behalf of our community. It is this work that inspires our COMMUNITY P.R.I.D.E. represented in our core values:

1) Partner with the community by connecting the students, faculty, and academic resources of York College to the needs of the organizations, businesses, and initiatives in the York community.

2) Rally people to support the positive changes happening in movements of York, providing space, encouraging collaborations, and fostering vital relationships in our community.

3) Inform and engage our community through Community-Based Learning opportunities for our students and unbiased research from the Glatfelter Institute of Public Policy.

4) Develop community and research-minded leaders—both in the community and among our York College students by creating more engaged citizens.

5) Empower people, particularly historically underrepresented populations, to work toward a more socially just community.

The Center for Community Engagement upholds these values through the activities of the York Engaged Scholars and Changemakers programs, the work of the Arther J. Glatfelter Institute for Public Policy and the Institute for Social Healing, the creative contributions of the Appell Arts Fellows, the presentation of exhibitions and events at Marketview Arts, and through other special projects and community engagement initiatives.
