The 1st Capital Fife & Drum Muster will be a celebration of traditional music and York history, all rolled into one October weekend!
The 1st Capital Fife & Drum Muster will be a celebration of the Central York Middle School Fifes and Drums’ 50th Anniversary! A Fife & Drum Muster is a traditional gathering of fifers and drummers to celebrate history and music, and our muster in downtown York will include a parade through town – starting at the Colonial Complex and proceeding to PeoplesBank Park – performances at PeoplesBank Park, fireworks, and a jam session for all participants. You can expect to see fifers and drummers in period clothing – from the Revolution to the Civil War – parading through town with their respective groups, a sight that York has not witnessed since the signing of the Articles of Confederation in 1777! Fife and Drum Corps are expected to attend from Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and several New England states! The parade will kick off at 2:00 pm, Oct. 2, 2021, and will be followed by performances in PeoplesBank Park of each attending corps. The days events will conclude with fireworks and a massed “jam session” of fifers and drummers playing their favorite tunes from more than 250 years of American history!
