The Ma & Pa Railroad Preservation Society is looking to expand its corps of docents (historically trained volunteers) who welcome visitors to the 1915-era Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village at Muddy Creek Forks.
The free annual docent training day takes place Saturday, May 6th, 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the General Store at Muddy Creek Forks, 1258 Muddy Creek Forks Road, Airville, Pa. Training includes train operators, store clerks, millers, station agents and other period-specific positions.
Historic interpreters are vital to the operation of the museum as they provide a glimpse of what life was like for the villagers during the early 20th century to all who visit. The 2017 season of the Ma & Pa Railroad Heritage Village opens June 3 and 4 with a World War I Encampment.
