Artist Show Opening: Rachael Scott

The opening reception for Rachael Scott\’s Show \”Through the Viewfinder\” will be at the Grotto for June First Friday in downtown York, PA!

The reception will be open from 5:00pm – 7:00pm with private tours available until end of July.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Through the Viewfinder, also known as TtV photography, is a photographic technique in which a photograph is shot with one camera through the viewfinder of a second camera, the viewfinder acting as a kind of lens or filter. The images produced evoke a look of film photography yet they are digital and can be manipulated and edited. My inspiration comes from a desire to slow down, to see the world through an altered lens, and to show respect to the art of photography by honoring old technology with a new updated version. The images can be grainy and raw yet also soft and subtle at the same time. TtV is a lesser known art form yet I believe it to be a beautiful one. It is a pure representation of the evolution of technology and art. It is a merging of two worlds.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
I am a self taught photographer , mother, artist , and creative. My love of photography began when I was a little girl and my parents bought me a Kodak Disc at the age of 7. I began my portrait photography career about 20 years ago but I soon discovered I loved the art of creating images that evoked emotion. I discovered TTV photography and I knew I had to dive head first into this amazing mix of new and old technology. The vision for my work ebbs and flows between macro and nature, portraits and architecture, decay and beauty. I only want to create beautiful images that help others FEEL a moment in time by what they are seeing through my lens.
