Open mic poetry night with special guest Dr. Matt McBride. Community members are invited to take the mic and share an excerpt of their work.

“Spill the Tea, Not the Coffee” Open Mic Poetry Night
With special guest Dr. Matt McBride
6 p.m. | The Shop at Marketview Arts

Marketview Arts will host an open mic poetry night in The Shop during April First Friday. Special guest Dr. Matt McBride will kick off the event at 6 p.m. with a reading of his poetry. Then, we invite YCP students, employees, and community members to take the mic and share an excerpt (2-3 minutes) of your poetry, short story, or spoken word piece. Participants will be asked to sign up for a slot upon arrival. Light refreshments will be provided.

Matthew McBride, PhD, is Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Practice and Instructor of English at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA. His work has appeared in or is forthcoming from Another Chicago Review, Cream City Review, Columbia Poetry Review, FENCE, Forklift, Ohio, Map Literary, Ninth Letter, Packingtown Review, Smartish Pace, and Typo. His chapbook, The Space Between Stars, won the 2007 Wick Poetry Chapbook Prize from Kent State University Press. He received a Devine Fellowship, a Writers in the Heartland Residency, and an Ohio Arts Council Grant. He has an MFA in poetry from Bowling Green State University and a Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of Cincinnati. His most recent publications include City of Incandescent Light and Pre-recorded Weather.
