Writers’ Roundtable

The next York County Writers’ Roundtable is set for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2. The speaker is Mayor Michael Helfrich who will present “The meaningful and tragic life of Glenalvin Goodridge.”
Due to restrictions related to COVID-19, pre-reservation seating/tickets are needed for this program. If you have trouble making a reservation, please contact the front desk at 717-848-1587. If you are unable to attend in person, you can view this program online through Zoom. This program will also be live-streamed on the York County History Center Facebook page.  For more information and reservations, please click here https://www.yorkhistorycenter.org/event/writers-roundtable
Join Mayor Helfrich in rebuilding York’s earliest photographic history. By using some detective work, he has been assembling a catalogue of the works of York’s first established photographer, and one of the first African American photographic artists in the United States, Glenalvin J Goodridge.  Bring your unidentified early cased images. Maybe you have a treasure that could add to the world’s knowledge of this early photographic entrepreneur of York.

The York County Writers’ Roundtable networks writers and researchers of York County and regional history. The group meets on the first Thursday of every quarter at 7:00 p.m. at the Historical Society Museum, Library & Archives a 250 E. Market St.  This event is free and open to the public.  Hope to see you there!
