The Assassination & Funeral of Abraham Lincoln

Ernie Heffner, will explore the fascinating yet lesser-known story of President Abraham Lincoln’s funeral.

Ernie Heffner, President of Heffner Funeral Chapels & Crematory, will discuss the background of the Lincoln assassination, and the following funeral procession that included 11 ceremonies in 20 days that followed. York served as a stop on the over 1,600 mile procession that ended in Springfield, Illinois.  Heffner will discuss what happened between 1865 and 1901, that caused Lincoln’s remains to be moved 17 times and his coffin was opened another 5 times.
