My recent series of works have acted as an exploration of religious narratives I remember from my childhood. Though not a religious man now I have been attempting to to reconnect and reconfigure some sort relationship I once felt for these stories, be it one that coincides with the morals I now have as an adult. The large scale mixed media paintings are all abstract reimaginings of biblical stories. I sought to express these near flawless individuals as being more “human”. I wanted show a more relatable narratives than the ones I had grown accustomed to hearing.

I am a mid-career artist (I hope!) living and working in York, PA. Having made up my mind in first grade to become an artist, I received a BFA from Kutztown University in an age when conceptualism was touted and drawing the figure was the exception. Never one to run with the crowd, I embraced figure drawing and drawing in general as an avenue of learning. It wasn’t until my 40’s that painting moved to the forefront of my art expression. Now in my 60’s challenges in creativity are important to me. They may come from an unusual commission or from trying new materials. I like to shake things up. In painting I enjoy working on large canvases using a variety of applications. Landscapes in series and diptych or triptych form are especially enticing to me. Using alcohol inks has fired up my imagination. They can be as controlled or loose as an artist wishes with endless possibilities in application. I am pursuing projects using multiple layers of glass  with the inks in collaboration with a glass lamination business. Carol has exhibited her paintings widely throughout the United States and has won numerous awards for both drawing and painting. Her work as been displayed in Togo, Africa as part of the Art in the Embassies Program. Being part of the program led to both a White House and State Department invitation to celebrate the 40th Anniversary.  She works out of OMG STUDIOS in downtown York.

I always loved the printed word and loved to draw. I had taken calligraphy classes locally and it was joyous to me; so I started to develop a line of calligraphy note cards. But they needed something in order to have some pizzazz. I saw a design that had a pressed flower and oh yay, I thought; I can do so much with that. Having studied botany in pharmacy school, an interest in plants and flowers was present; so it was a natural to identify and work with these wonderful flowers that I had pressed.   My business, QuilliGraphy was started in 1997 and I had developed over 100 designs which I wholesaled and sold on line on my website. Presently I have 160+ designs.   QuilliGraphy's mission is to use natural materials to create art that stimulates the mind, validates the spirit, and celebrates the universe. It celebrates life and beauty. QuilliGraphy is a socially conscious business, contributing to local art, local events, libraries and breast cancer research and greyhound rescue and the American Association of University Women.

Art and creation has always been an integral part of my life. I began creating early on as a necessary form of self expression, creating costumes, portraits, illustrations – anything that was required to enrich my life experience and promote whimsy in the everyday. Becoming an art educator has contributed even further, providing a space in which I can support students of all ages in pursuing their whimsy and passion for creation. My own art is inspired by nature and humans, particularly people from the past. Photography from the 1800-1900’s fascinates me and presents a ghostlike portrait that presents a different facet of identity that I enjoy exploring in my own work. I’ve continued themes of nature and figures in my ceramic works, investigating the uncanny valley in both functional and decorative ceramic pieces. My most recent work has expanded into sola wood flower creation, working to bring wedding day dreams to life. I’ve continued expanding in my art education outside of Public School as well, teaching at Creative York, The York Art Association, Creatives on King, through Arts in Residence (Cultural Alliance), as well as my own business, Reptile Smiles. Combining animal advocates and art creation has been a powerful teaching tool that inspires students of all ages to create unhindered. Finally, I’ve stepped into the role of Curator at Creatives on King, working to advocate for, empower, and guide artists in their journey in the creation and sale of their work.

I am a Graphic Designer living in South Central Pennsylvania, that prefers using paper as my medium. I enjoy working with paper because it is something most people encounter as an everyday object and I want to try and turn that object into something unique and amazing. I create clean, beautiful, detail oriented, and sometimes humorous pieces of work, that just wants to make the world a more interesting place to live.  I love what I am doing and hopefully that shows in my work.
