With a background in varying media, Josh primarily works in watercolor and linoleum block carving to bring his illustrations to life. In some of this work, a painting Josh has created is traced and transferred to a linoleum block, carved, and then hand-printed on an antique letterpress. Multiple colors are printed on the same block using the reduction method. Animals – often anthropomorphic – are the main subject of this work and often find their way into stories. Josh is also the author of a children’s book called The Spindletons. When he is not working on art, Josh enjoys playing upright bass and hanging out with his cat Caliope. Formerly of Indiana, Josh relocated to York in 2022. His first project in York was an artist residency at local art & music homestead Sign Of The Wagon, and his next project will be opening a storefront studio in downtown York. Stay tuned!
