My favorite nostalgic smell is a new box of crayons. From as early as I can remember, creating colorful, bold, psychedelic art has been a passion. Yet, it was something I had to set aside to focus on the responsibilities of being a single mom for many years.
Yet, it wasn’t until just 5 years ago that I embraced the idea that creation is happening in every moment – whether with paint, ideas, conversations, moments, etc… I am creating this life. Once this realization set in, the old narrative that art was not something you could actually “do” with your life started to dissipate. And in it’s place, new inspiration was born.
Now, I paint all the time, and it doesn’t matter what it looks like. The pure joy of creating visual art is all that matters. It is a meditation, and I inspire other adults to create more actively by combining my love of movement and meditation with creative projects and community through workshops, retreats, and virtual circles.
You’re never too old to be what you wanted to be when you grow up. 🙂
